Dr. Spencer Idstein

Born and raised in Louisville, KY, Dr. Idstein completed school at St. Martha School followed by Saint Xavier High School. He completed his biology undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton in Ohio, graduating with highest honors summa cum laude. He moved on to attend the University of Louisville School of Medicine for his doctorate where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society graduating in the top of his class. After graduating he chose to pursue residency training in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his four years of dual training, he found his calling in primary care, guiding people from birth to all ages of adulthood throughout their medical journey. Following residency completion, he returned home to Louisville to begin his career caring for his community.

Dr. Idstein has a passion for fostering the patient-doctor relationship upon which great care is built. Knowing the patient, and often the whole family, is essential to providing them with high quality, individualized care crucial in meeting your healthcare needs. His combined training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics makes him uniquely qualified to care for the entire family, preventing illness through detailed, regular check ups and annual wellness exams or physicals. It also enables him to care for acute care and sick visits, whether this be a cough, cold or febrile illness to injuries and lacerations.

On a personal note, Dr. Idstein is married to his college sweetheart Crystal, a practicing Physician Assistant. They have been blessed with three children, the oldest two happily attending Kentucky Country Day School in Louisville with the youngest soon to follow. His family enjoys spending time together whether this be in the kitchen cooking and baking or playing games and crafting together. When not at work or with his family you can find him spending time at the lake or outdoors hiking, kayaking or fishing. He looks forward to meeting  you and delivering the high quality detailed care you deserve.
